Five dead in bus-truck collision

Five people were killed and over a dozen left injured after a state roadways bus collided head-on with a truck today in Bahsuma area in the district, police said.

Superintendent of Police (Rural), Praveen Ranjan said that the incident took place in the morning when an Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) bus collided with a truck coming from opposite direction near Jhunjuni village. The UP roadways bus was going from Hapur to Bijnor.

The powerful impact left both the vehicles severely damaged, as three people died on the spot and two others succumbed to their injuries during treatment later.
 

According to Ranjan, the accident has left more than 12 people injured, including drivers of both the vehicles. Those injured are being treated at a hospital and identification of dead persons is underway, he said.
