Five drug peddlers arrested in Kashmir

Following a tip-off, police today arrested one Ghulam Nabi Beigh from near Awantipora, 32 kms from here, and recovered 600 grams of brown sugar from him, an official spokesman said.

In a separate incident, a police team, acting on a specific information, arrested two women - Hafiza Begum (30) and Fameeda (27) - from Anantnag district of south Kashmir today, he said.

600 grams of charas was recovered from their possession, the spokesman said, adding that the women hailed from Bemina and Qammerwari localities of Srinagar.

Two more suspected drug peddlers were arrested from Kupwara district town, 90 kms from here, during a special drive by police against drug menace, officials said.
