Five government employees, including two doctors, have been placed under suspension for being absent without authorisation and dereliction of duty, sources said today.

Two doctors and a X-Ray technician at a government hospital in north Kashmir's Kupwara district were suspended by Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan, after they were discovered to be absent during a surprise check yesterday.

Later, when the minister visited the Zonal Education Office in Kupwara district's Zachaldara, he found it locked whereupon he ordered that action be taken against all those who had stayed away from duty.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of Shopian district yesterday suspended a Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution department storekeeper Mohammad Yaseen Malik, and a Tehsil Supply Officer, Mohammad Ashraf Mir for dereliction of duty.
