The sleuths of CID (Immigration) department arrested all the five before they could board the Air Arabia flight for Sharjah.

Srinivas Rao (35) and Madarsahid Shaikh (36), both from Andhra Pradesh, were held along with Genesia Sheikh (40) from Andhra Pradesh, Cangrool Laila Parokutti Ali (34) from Kerala and Fakira Begam (40) from Karnataka at the airport this morning, a police spokesperson said.

According to police, the arrested persons had forged a stamp on their passports which enabled them to be exempted from undergoing some necessary immigration formalities.

"The stamp of 'no immigration required' was forged on their passports," he said.

All were arrested under relevant sections of the Indian Passport Act.

A court of Judicial Magistrate First Class, Vasco, remanded them in police custody for five days.
