Five held for vehicle theft

Police today claimed to have busted a gang of vehicle thieves active in NCR region with the arrest of five persons and recovery of two motorcycles.

The arrested criminals have been identified as Imran, Ikbal, Umardeen, Sabir all residents of Mewat district and Manjit, a resident of Rajasthan were active vehicle thieves and stolen over 150 two wheelers, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), Rajesh Duggal told reporters here.

They have also fired at police before being arrested last night at village Silani at Sohna Tehsil while three pistols and two stolen bikes were recovered from their possession, Duggal added.

Imran, the head of the gang confessed before the police that he had stolen more than 50 bikes from Gurgaon and Faridabad. He had also been arrested various times but presently he is on bail and out of jail, Duggal informed.
 

Ikbal also confessed that he along with other gang members had stolen more than hundred bikes from various places of Haryana, he said.
