Five persons were arrested today from different parts of the city in connection with two separate cases of theft, police said.
The Crime branch of police arrested two gangs of burglars, who were wanted in two cases of theft of cash and jewellery and recovered a total of cash Rs 3.75 lakh, two gold bangles and ornaments worth 25 gms gold from them.
Three persons, identified as Koyya Manoj Kumar, Girijala Satish Kumar and Kiladi Simhadri were arrested today near Gnanapuram railway station in connection with theft of Rs 1.80 lakh cash and jewellery in Gavara Kancharapalem area on July 27, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) J Muralidhar, told reporters here.

Police recovered cash Rs 1.60 lakh and two gold bangles, which were kept at Manoj Kumar's mother house. The trio had spent Rs 20,000 from the stolen money, he said.
In another case, two persons of a three-member gang were arrested and cash of Rs 1.45 lakh and 25 gms of gold ornaments was recovered from them, Muralidhar said.
The arrested were identified as B Prasad, B Prabhakar, while the kingpin, who is at large, his name was withheld with the police.
They all belong to Parvathipuram area of Vizianagaram district and had stolen Rs 4 lakh in cash and 120 gms gold jewellery from a house near Peethalavanipalem area in the city last month, police said.
