Five held with illicit liquor and narcotics

Five persons, including three women, were arrested on charges of smuggling illicit liquor and other intoxicants in Katra town of Reasi district in three separate incidents.

The women, identified as Shanti Devi, Vaishno Devi and Renu Devi, were arrested from Katra town, the base camp of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi cave shrine yesterday, a police spokesman said here today.

As many as 100 pouches of country-made illicit liquor were allegedly recovered from their possession.

In another incident, Sanjay Sharma was arrested from the same area and 100 grams of poppy straw and 49 intoxicant capsules were allegedly recovered from his possession.
 

In yet another incident, Bhanu Partap Singh was arrested from the Banganga area in Katra town and 90 grams of cannabis was allegedly recovered from his possession, the police spokesman said.

All the accused were booked under relevant sections of law and investigations initiated, he added.
