Atleast five shops and one house was gutted in fire in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district today.
The incident happened at Birpara and was caused due to short curcuit, an official said.
The loss could be to the tune of several lakhs as the shops were filled with several commodities. The fire brigade doused the flame within four hours, Dhupguri fire station officer-in-charge Asit Pal said.
