Five persons were today injured
when devotees set off crackers during a local temple festival.
The mishap occurred as devotees set off crackers when temple idols were taken out in a procession as part of the Tamil New year celebrations at the Thalaivasal Vadachennimalai hill shrine.
The injured have been hospitalised.
A case was registered against one Pandian, who was among the injured, under IPC section 286 (negligent conduct with respect to explosive substance) for bursting the chain of crackers, police said.
