Five injured after lift falls from third floor

Five people were injured today after a lift got disconnected from its wires and fell from the third floor of a motorcycle showroom here, the police said.

The incident took place this afternoon after the lift's cables snapped, they said.

Kasna SHO Jitendra Kumar said, "Five people, including a showroom staff and four customers, were injured after the lift fell from the third floor of the showroom's building."

The doctor on emergency duty at the Yatharth Hospital, Vinay, said, "They were admitted with multiple fractures and spinal injuries."

Roin (27), Sachin (25) and Achin (25) have multiple fractures and are in the ICU, he said, adding that Vikas (20) and Prashant (22) are being treated at the hospital's general wards.
 

They are all out of danger, Vinay said.

Bunty Rawal, whose four cousins were injured in the incident, said that they had gone to the third floor with the showroom staff to see motorcycles.

"The lift fell after the its cables snapped," he claimed.

The showroom's owners did not comment.
