Five persons including three patients were today injured after a car owned by a doctor hit them in the parking lot of state-run Osmania General Hospital here, police said.

"Two of them -- an 85-year-old man, a patient, and a woman attendant of another patient -- were seriously injured," said inspector P Gnanendar Reddy of Afzalgunj police station.

Both suffered serious leg injuries.

Three others -- two of them patients -- had minor injuries.

The car belonged to Dr Rehan Qureshi, a plastic surgeon working at the hospital. A security guard was driving the car when the accident took place, the police officer said.

The guard, who was apparently parking the car, pressed the accelerator instead of the brakes.

A case under section 336 of IPC (act endangering life or personal safety of others) has been registered.
