Five students were today injured in a clash with private security guards of Magadh University outside its Distance Education Directorate premises in Bihar's Gaya district, a police officer said.

The students belonging to the JD(U)'s student wing Chhatra Samagam and RJD MP Pappu Yadav's youth supporters under the banner of Yuva Shakti clashed with the varsity's private security guards after they were not allowed inside the auditorium to attend a meeting of the senate where they wanted to raise their demands, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Law and Order, Satish Kumar said.

The irate students raised slogans against the Magadh University administration before breaking flower pots and window panes of the auditorium building before clashing with the security guards, he said.

The protesters also resorted to stone pelting in which several vehicles were damaged, the DSP said.

As many as five students sustained injuries in clash with the security guards, he said, adding that the injured students were discharged after first aid in the campus itself.

No arrest has been made in this connection, Kumar said.

Additional policemen have been deployed in the campus in view of tension prevailing in the University, he said, adding that the senate meeting went on as schedule and the students' delegation allowed in to represent their demands to the varsity officials.
