Five workers were injured in a fire at a distillery plant in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur district, police said today.
The fire broke out yesterday after an explosion in a boiler at the facility of Welcome Distillery Pvt Ltd located in Chherkabandha village under Kota block, a local police official said.
The factory, which manufactures rectified spirit, had been closed for the past 10 days for maintenance work. On Monday, when welding work was underway at the fermentation unit as part of maintenance, suddenly a blast took place in the boiler, he said.

The explosion caused a fire that left five labourers injured, the official said.
They were identified as Ajay Jaiswal (44), Anil Dhurv (27), Krishna Maravi (36), Dharmaraj Vishwakarma (43) and Jagdev Gwal (27).
The injured were initially admitted to Community Health Centre at Kota from where they later were shifted to a private hospital in Bilaspur, he added.
Fire fighters took around two hours to douse the flames, he added.
A case has been registered in this connection, the official said, adding a probe was on.
Kota Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) D R Dahire said as per preliminary probe, sparks from welding work caused the explosion in the boiler.
In September 2014, three workers were injured in a similar fire incident in the plant, he added.
