The Rashtrapati Bhavan here will have five guests for 20 days beginning tomorrow who include 16-year-old Tenith Adithyaa who was selected for his innovation of preserving the freshness of banana leaf for over a year and adjustable electricity extension board.

The five 'Innovation Scholars' were selected under the Innovation Scholars-in residence scheme of Rashtrapati Bhavan initiated by President Pranab Mukherjee on December 11, 2013 with a view to promoting the spirit of innovation and giving further impetus to grassroots innovation activities, an official spokesperson said.

Among the five is Manisha Mohan, a student of Aeronautical Engineering, who was selected for creating 'Society Harnessing Equipment', a device to safeguard women from molestation, assault and sexual harassment.

She designed it with an intent to punish assaulter on the spot without taking the law in hand. "An electronic circuit is included in the clothing in such a way that it disables the assaulter on the spot without causing damage to the wearer.

"The garment is equipped with pressure sensors which actuate when the pressure values are attained leading to shock generation and sending message to parents and police using embedded Global Positioning and alarm systems.

The others include 51-year-old Dharamveer Kamboj who was credited with innovating 'Multipurpose Processing Machine' capable of extracting juices and essence from aloe vera, amla, jamun and other herbs and processes them for making various products.
