Five persons were killed and 25 others were injured after a pickup vehicle in which they were travelling overturned in Balrampur district in Chhattisgarh, police said today.
The incident occurred on Friday evening near Karmadiha village under the limits of Basantpur police station, Superintendent of Police, Balrampur, G S Darro said.
According to police, the driver of the pick up vehicle was allegedly drunk. When the vehicle came near Karmadiha village, the driver lost control and it rammed into an electricity pole. Due to the impact, the vehicle turned turtle.

Three of the five deceased were identified as Shiv Prasad (55), Siddhuram (55) and Ramsurat (40).
Driver of the vehicle fled from the spot after the accident and efforts are on to nab him, police said.
