: Five persons, including four women, were killed and 26 injured, some of them seriously,when the state government bus in which they were travelling in collided with a lorry at Perumpallam in Salem district today.
Police said the identities of the deceased was yet to be ascertained and that all the injured were admitted to the government hospital in Mettur, about 54 km from Salem.
The bus was going to Mettur from Erode and the lorry was on its way to Bhavani from Mettur when the mishap occured.
Police said the toll is likely to rise in view of the severe injuries to some passengers.
