At least five passengers were today killed and 25 others injured when two private buses turned turtle after colliding with each other at Ramsinghpur, about 125 kms away from Sriganganagar, an official said.

The incident occurred around 10.30 am when one of the buses, on the way from Sangaria to Ravwali, collided with the other coming from the opposite direction, killing five passengers and injuring 25 others, Circle Officer Himanshu told PTI.

While ten of the injured were admitted to Ghadsana's Primary Health Centre, 12 were referred to Bikaner's PBM hospital, he said adding that the remaining three passengers were taken to the local hospital in Ramsinghpur.

However, the drivers of both vehicles escaped unhurt, he added.

A rescue operation by civil and police department was underway, and the identity of the deceased would be ascertained later, he said adding that the death toll might rise as many patients admitted in the hospital are critical.
