Five killed in road accident in Assam

Five persons, including two women, were killed today when the taxi in which they were travelling collided with a truck at National Highway 31 in Dhubri district, police said.

The taxi, in which the five were travelling towards Dhubri town, collided with a truck coming from the opposite side at Baladmari killing them on the spot, they said.

One of the deceased was a homeguard attached to Gauripur police station. The taxi driver escaped unhurt.

The driver of the truck is absconding, but the vehicle has been seized, they said.
