Five persons, including four women, were killed today and 13 others injured when the three-wheeler tempo in which they were travelling collided head-on with a state-run bus in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh, police said.
The incident occured near Pathikonda town of Kurnool around 5.45 am when the RTC bus trying to overtake a vehicle collided with the tempo coming from opposite direction resulting in the death of five of its occupants, Pathikonda Circle Inspector Narayan Swamy Reddy said.
"Three persons died on the spot while two others succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment at a local hospital. 13 others travelling in the tempo who suffered injuries were shifted at Kurnool general hospital," the CI told PTI over phone. Further probe is on.
