Five CPI (Maoist) supporters have been arrested and a pistol seized from their possession in Jharkhand's Seraikela-Kharswan district, police said today.

Acting on a tip-off, police teams led by Additional Superintendent of Police, Priya Ranjan and Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Seraikela), Avinash Kumar arrested two Maoist supporters Tarak Nath Kowait and Dawood Topno travelling in a car on Aruwon-Champad Road yesterday, the police said.

The team also arrested three others who were escorting Kowait and Topno on a motorcycle, they said.

The three motorcycle-borne persons were identified as Hikim Munda, Ghanshyam Munda and Ram Munda.

Police seized a loaded country-made pistol from Hikim and confiscated the two-wheeler and seized three mobile phones from them.

On interrogation, Hikim told the police that they were going to hand over daily need items including medicines, T-shirts, to Maoist leader Maharaj Pramanik and his squad.
