Driven by financial problems, five members of a family, including two elderly persons, allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison at Kallayam in the district today.
Their bodies were found in the house by a relative who informed the police, police said.
The deceased were identified as Manoharan (66), his wife Maheswari (61), and their sons Biju (36) and Saju (33) and Biju's wife Krishnenthu (24).
Financial problem was stated to be the reason behind the extreme step taken, police said.
