Five men arrested in connection with robbery of Rs 6 lakh

Five men have been arrested in connection with the robbery of Rs 6 lakh from a salesman of a garment firm in Gandhi Nagar market and a cash of Rs 1.5 lakh has been recovered from them, police said today.

The alleged robbers Tahseem, Gulzar, Mazid, Kalicharan and Nazim were arrested from Sri Ram Colony in Khajoori Khas area on a tip off. All of them confessed of their involvement in the robbery, said Rishi Pal, DCP(East).

An amount of Rs 1.50 lakh of the robbed Rs 6 lakh was recovered from them. One accused Farukh is still absconding with rest of the money and efforts are being made to arrest him, he said.
 

Shyam Mohan Tiwari, salesman of Yogesh Trading Company, owned by Deepak Gambhir, was intercepted and robbed of Rs 6 lakh cash by two robbers in Gandhi Nagar area on the evening of June 26. An FIR was registered at Gandhi Nagar police station in this connection.

During interrogation it was revealed that Kalicharan worked with a garment factory in the area and knew that Tiwari went on cash collection on Sunday and shared this information with his associates, added the officer.
