Five more arrested in teacher case, 25 held so far

Five more persons have been arrested for allegedly assaulting a teacher within the premises of a school here, an issue which has evoked protests from parents and teachers.

With this 25 persons have been arrested and a hunt is on for the main accused, police today said.

The arrested men have been booked for several offences under the IPC including attempt to murder, police said.

The attack followed alleged beating of an eighth standard student which was, however, denied by the school administration.

Police are on the look out for Arulanandam, the main accused and father of the student who allegedly led a mob that assaulted S Baskar, a physical education teacher, on November 20.
 

Twenty men arrested yesterday have been lodged in Puzhal prison in judicial custody, police said.
