Five naxals, who were allegedly involved in torching a government-run bus last month in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district, were arrested from the region, police said today.

They were identified as Sonaram Madvi (22), Bodma Madvi (30), Guddu alias Mangal alias Guddi (25), Sunil (22) and Jaminath (26), all lower rung members of the banned CPI (Maoist) active in Gadapal region.

They were rounded up from Katekalyan area, Dantewada Superintendent of Police Kamlochan Kashyap told PTI.

They were wanted in connection with holding the Naxal 'Jan Adalat' and thrashing local public representatives at Gadapal, Mendoli, Metapal and Gadhmiri villages recently.

Besides, they were also involved in setting ablaze a government-run bus near Gatam Patelpara village on November 23 this year, he said.

Their interrogation may reveal crucial details of Maoist lower rung channels instrumental in executing naxal attacks in the region, he added.
