Punem Sanu (20), Subhash Mandvi (25), Paklu Akali (27), Chaiti Veti (24) and Munni Tati (27) gave themselves up to the police, Bijapur SP Prashant Agarwal told PTI.

The ultras were fed up with their way of life as Maoists and wanted to join the mainstream. These ultras contacted police for surrender through their relatives, he said.

The five cadres had joined the Naxal ranks between 2005 and 2010 and were active in different parts of the state, Agarwal said.

The surrendered Naxals will be given a financial assistance of Rs 10,000 each and rehabilitated according to the Chhattisgarh government's policy, the SP added.
