Five of a wedding party killed in Jhargram

Five members of a wedding party were killed today when their vehicle turned upside down while trying to avoid colliding with a motorcycle on National Highway six at Balivasa in Jhargram in West Midnapore district.

Jargram Sub-Divisional Police Officer Vivek Verma said that a 24-member strong wedding party hailing from a village in Jharkhand's Chakulia police station area was travelling in a mini lorry from Guptamani to Binpur in the same West Midnapore district when the mishap occurred.

Four persons were spot dead and one more succumbed to his injuries in a district hospital, the SDPO said.

Eight more persons were under treatment in the hospital, Verma said.
