Five of banned outfit held in Meghalaya

Security forces today apprehended five suspected cadres of militant outfit ASAK from the West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya.

The incident occurred early today when a joint squad of security forces led by paramilitary CRPF was on an anti-insurgency operation in the Asanang area in the forests of Tura in the same district.

The apprehended cadres have been identified as Amol D Sangma (23), Chouky R Marak (13), Jaseng R Marak (24), Smajin Momin (24) and Smikeng M Sangma (15).

Five mobile phones and a car were also seized from these people, a senior official here said.
