Five of family drown in the Ganga river

All the five drowned as they did not have an idea of the depth of the river and tried to wade through it to reach the trees on the other side laden with plum fruits, police said.

Shyam Singh(35), his 14-year-old son Rohan, nephew Ajay (13) and two more relatives Gaurav and Chotu drowned near Ajit Ghat of the river, police said.

A co-villager Anil was also with them, however, he swam to safety, police said.

All the five bodies have been fished out.
