Five members of a family, including three minor girls, were found dead at their house in Vyas Colony, police said today.

The neighbours today informed police about bodies of Murarilal Suthar (45), his wife Sunita (35) and their daughters Diviya (7), Priya (10) and Kishori (13) lying in the house, Superintendent of Police Bikaner Santosh Chalke said.

Quoting the primary report of the forensic experts who went to the spot, Chalke said the family members had consumed sugar-water laced with poison last night.

It is being suspected that Murarilal served the poison-laced water to his family and then consumed himself to commit suicide, the SP said, adding that he was a carpenter by profession but was jobless for last two years.

Poison was also found near their bodies, he said.

The bodies were sent to a government hospital for postmortem and Murarilal's in-laws were informed about the incident, the SP said.

An investigation is underway in the matter, the SP added.
