Five persons were killed and seven others injured when their vehicle fell into a deep gorge in Karnaprayag area of Chamoli district of Uttarakhand.
The mishap occurred late last night on Sonla-Kandara road when a marriage party was going in the jeep from Sonla to Bhatiyana village, SDM Karnaprayag K N Goswami said.
Three people were killed on the spot and two others died during treatment at Karnaprayag Government Hospital where seven injured are still admitted, he said.
The jeep met with the accident at around nine PM last night, he said adding the bodies of the deceased and those injured were pulled out of the gorge by rescue teams with the help of locals, the SDM said.
