Five persons who were arrested in connection with the alleged rape of a tapioca factory employee at Nammagiripet have been detained under the stringent Goondas Act, police said.
The woman was returning home from work on the night of March 16 with her paramour when the five persons accosted her, beat her up and allegedly raped her.
A special team formed by Namakkal Superintdent of Police Sakthivel arrested them on March 17.
They were booked last night under the stringent Goondas Act under which persons cannot come out on bail for a minimum period of one year.
