Five persons killed in accident in Odisha

Five persons of a family, including three women, were killed when a speeding truck crashed into their roadside house while they were asleep in Odisha's Sonepur district today, police said.

Mishap struck the family of Nabin Bag of Cherupali village along NH-26 as the loaded vehicle bound for Bargarh from Bolangir rammed into the house killing five members, inspector-in-charge of Dunguripali police station, Surubabu Chatria said.

The deceased were identified as Nabin Bag, his wife Brundabati, daughter Jayanti, son Prasant and widowed sister

Post-mortem was conducted at the government hospital at Dunguripalli, he said adding the driver of the vehicle was absconding.
 

Irate villagers staged a road blockade after the accident demanding compensation and regulation of traffic movement on the busy NH. However, they lifted the road blockade after intervention of the police, he said.
