Five persons were killed and many thatched houses were damaged in the severe storm that lashed Nadia district, a senior district official said today.
A severe storm hit the district last night. Five persons were killed when uprooted trees and branches fell on them during the storm, said Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Priyanka Singla.
Tufan Seikh (35) of Dhubulia, Ramakrishna Ghosh (19) of Ranaghat Dayalnagar, Alauddin Seikh (63) of Krishnaganj, Kartick Das of Hanskhali and Bikash Sharma were killed in the storm, officials said.
Many thatched houses were damaged and electric supply was disrupted at various places including Kalyani and Ranaghat, the officials said.
