Five persons killed, three injured in accident

Five persons were killed and three others injured in a road accident at Tablapur in Seraikela-Kharswan district of Jharkhand today, police said.

The accident took place when the driver of the car in which the victims were travelling failed to control the vehicle and rammed into a truck.

The victims, all residents of Kharswan, were going to Rajrappa in Ramgarh district to perform the last rite of a family member, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Seraikela), K V Raman said.

While four of the occupants of the car were killed on the spot, one of them succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital, he said.
 

One of the critically injured was referred to Tata Main Hospital.

The other two injured were undergoing treatment in M G M Hospital, Raman added.

The drivers of both the vehicles fled the scene after the accident.
