Besides convicting the five persons in a camp court at Bonai yesterday, Additional district judge of fast track court, Gopabandhu Patnaik also slapped a fine of Rs 3,000 each.
In case of non-payment of the fine, the convicts would have to undergo additional jail term for two months.
The prosecution said all the accused persons assaulted and killed Alfas Munda and his wife Faleria Munda in their sleep on March 23, 2011 at Jarada village of Sundargarh district. Previous enemity was stated to be the cause of the murder.
Altogether 13 persons including Alfas's 8-year-old son, who was eyewitness to the ghastly crime, were examined during trial.
