As many as five persons posing as gunmen of District Transport Officer (DTO) today allegedly extorted money from truckers near Karyal village of Dharamkot.
Two out of five accused have been identified as Nirmal Singh and Jhilmal Singh, They were already facing criminal charges in various other cases, SSP Moga Surjit Singh Grewal said.
Three of the accused were armed, he said, adding that a police team had reached the spot but the five managed to escape in one of their two vehicles.
