Five students of ashram school injured in wall collapse

At least five students of an ashram school in Wada taluka of the district were injured when a portion of the school wall collapsed this morning, officials said.

The incident took place at Gunj-Bhudavali Ashram School around 8 am when the class of standard VI was in progress, Chief of Thane District Disaster Control, Jaideep Visawe said.

The injured children were between the age group of 12 and 14 years, he said adding that three of them were shifted to Thane Civil Hospital while the rest were admitted to a local hospital, he added.

Meanwhile, at least four houses illegally constructed on the nullah in Mumbra's Alishan Society, got washed away in the flash floods, an official of Regional Disaster Management Cell (RMDC) of the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), Santosh Kadam, said.
 

According to him, no loss of life was reported as the occupants had already vacated the places.
