Five WB tourists rescued from drowning in J-K

In a swift action, Jammu and Kashmir police today rescued a group of tourists, including two children, after their boat capsized due to strong winds in Dal Lake here.

Five tourists from Kolkata were on a sightseeing trip in the famous lake when their boat capsized due to strong winds, police said.

Police along with the locals immediately swung into action and saved the tourists from drowning.

The rescued tourists were identified as Atanu Chatterjee, his wife Poornima, their son Arpan, and Sirpa Das and her son Anuraj from West Bengal.

They were later taken to their hotel, they added.
 

Strong winds, with the speed of 20 kms per hour, swept Srinagar late afternoon, followed by rains.
