A five-year-old girl was allegedly molested by a man here in Birbhum district, police said today.
Superintendent of Police of Birbhum, C Sudhakar said "a complaint of molestation has been lodged with Suri police station by the relatives of the girl. The accused is absconding and a search is on."
Angry relatives and neighbours of the girl demonstrated at the Suri police station today.
A relative of the girl claimed that they have lodged a complaint of rape but the police did not confirm it.
The girl was playing with a friend in the courtyard of a neighbour when a man from a neighbouring locality allegedly dragged her and assualted her on Tuesday.
On the Tuesday night the girl complained her parents that she was feeling unwell. The parents admitted her to Suri hospital on Wednesday.
