Five youths drown in two separate incidents in Bihar

Five youths drowned today and one was missing in two separate incidents in Begusarai and Patna districts.

Three teenage youths drowned in river Ganga near pontoon bridge on Patna side while taking a bath in the river. One youth was rescued by local people.

The deceased have been identified as Kumar Gaurav (16) Vijay Kumar (16) and Rahul Kumar (18), Alamganj police station Officer-in-charge Alok Ranjan said and added that one Rohit Kumar is still missing while Munna was rescued by local people.

Efforts are underway to find the missing boy, Ranjan said.

Kumar Gaurav and Vijay Kumar were the residents of Dankaitoli and Rahul Kumar was the resident of Kankerbagh area of the state capital.
 

The incident occurred when five minor boys had gone to take bath in river Ganga near pontoon bridge on Patna side and slipped into deep waters during bathing, he said.

In Begusarai, two teens drowned when they went for a swim in Burhi Gandak river in Begusarai district, police said.

The incident took place at Sharma ghat in Mehda Shahpur village when four youths had gone to take bath in the river. While two drowned, the rest were rescued by the locals, police said.
