Taking on the Tamil Nadu government for not so far announcing the 2015-16 Minimum Support Price for sugarcane, PMK today said the State should come forward to fix it as Rs 3,095 per tonne.
"It is the expectation of all sections of cane farmers that Rs 4,000 be given (as MSP) per tonne as cultivation cost has increased for cane," PMK chief Ramadoss said here.
"Tamil Nadu government should come forward to give an incentive of Rs 650 and freight charge Rs 100 along with the Centre's Rs 2,345 making it Rs 3,095 per tonne," he said.

The Centre has fixed Rs 2,300 as MSP for cane besides deciding to provide an incentive of Rs 45 per tonne, he pointed out and said the State had not yet announced the MSP even after the commencement of the crushing season for 2015-16.
He strongly criticised the AIADMK regime for not providing "higher MSP for cane since 2011 as promised by the party.
