Flight delays affect over 43,800 passengers in July

As many as 43,818 passengers were affected by flight delays last month, with majority of them being Air India travellers, according to latest official data.

Besides, about 7,224 passengers were affected by cancellations while 505 were denied boarding in July.

Aviation regulator DGCA today said that 43,818 passengers were affected by delays in flights for more than two hours. Out of them, 26,934 were Air India passengers and 7,522 booked with IndiGo.

Around 2,771 passengers of Jet Airways and Jet Lite were affected while the number stood at 3,095 in the case of SpiceJet.

On account of delays, 1,001 passengers of GoAir were affected in July while the count stood at 1,961 for Air Costa, Vistara (313), AirAsia (130) and Air Pegasus (91).
 

There were no cancellations by IndiGo last month.

In July, 2,792 passengers of Air India were impacted by cancellations.

Jet Airways and Jet Lite's cancellations affected 2,016 passengers while that by SpiceJet impacted 475 people.

Due to cancellations, GoAir's 290 passengers were affected and the number stood at 1,020 in the case of Air Costa, AirAsia (219), Vistara (106) and Air Pegasus (306).

Last month, Air India denied boarding to 104 passengers.

Together, Jet Airways and Jet Lite did not allow boarding of 401 passengers during the same period while none of the other airlines denied boarding.

"During July 2015, a total of 802 passenger-related complaints had been received by the scheduled domestic airlines," DGCA said.
