Flood relief disbursement for houses completed in 9 districts

Jammu and Kashmir government has disbursed over Rs 700 crore to the 2014 flood victims for house resconstruction in nine districts.

"Disbursement of financial assistance under the Prime Minister's Reconstruction Plan has crossed Rs 700 crore mark. The disbursement has been completed in nine districts -- Ganderbal, Baramulla, Udhampur, Kishtwar, Shopian, Kupwara, Kulgam, Jammu and Kathua", an official spokesman said.

He said, as per the reports received by Governor N N Vohra Rs 700.47 crore has been disbursed to 1,01,773 flood-affected persons during the last one week.

A sum of Rs 311.42 crore was distributed in Srinagar district, Rs 33.49 crore in Budgam, among other places.
 

The Governor had directed completion of disbursement of additional financial assistance to the flood-affected households in a time-bound manner, the spokesman said.

The disbursement of additional financial assistance had begun on March 14.

The State Administrative Council (SAC), in its meeting held on February 25, had approved the grant of additional financial assistance of Rs 1,194 crore under the Prime Minister's Reconstruction Plan 2015.
