The flood situation in Assam has shown signs of improvement today though nearly 22,000 people are still suffering due to the waters in over 25 villages across the state.
Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) said in its daily flood report that more than 21,700 people were affected as of now in 29 villages across Barpeta, Dhemaji, Morigaon, Lakhimpur and Chirang districts.
Till yesterday, over 30,500 people were affected in 46 villages under four districts.

Nearly 900 hectares of crop areas were under water currently, the report said.
The death toll in the first wave of floods in Assam remained at three - one each in Bongaigaon, Lakhimpur and Baksa districts.
At present, the Brahmaputra was flowing above the danger mark at Nematighat in Jorhat, the ASDMA added.
