Flood situation must not be allowed to go out of control: Cong

Congress today expressed its anguish over the flood in Kashmir and said the prevailing situation in the Valley must not be allowed to go out of control.

"The prevailing situation in the Valley must not be allowed to go out of control", President J and K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), Gulam Ahmed Mir, told reporters here.

He also expressed his anguish over the situation in Kashmir valley due to the incessant rains.

While expressing his serious concern, Mir said so many people have been rendered homeless and almost hundred per cent crops have been damaged in south Kashmir and elsewhere in the Valley.
 

The former minister said that the government must not forget the previous devastating flood and the situation must not be allowed to go out of control.

The JKPCC chief said our people in the Valley and Jammu have suffered much due to the last September floods.

He impressed upon the govt to take measure on a war-footing and save the property and precious lives of people.

Mir further said that it is upon the government to make assessment of loss to crops and houses caused due to the rains and flood, by a team of experts.

He also said the government should provide full compensation to affected people.

Mir assured the people that Congress party will always work for the betterment and welfare of the people and is committed to fight for their development, safety and prosperity.
