Flooding kills 363 persons, displaces 2.1 million in Nigeria

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said 7.7 million people were affected by the flooding which has been described as the country's worst disaster after the civil war of the 60s.

"While Adamawa and Kogi States recorded higher figures of casualties, 256 local government councils throughout the federation were adversely affected," NEMA spokesman, Yushua Shuaib said in a statement.

Nigeria has two seasons; rainy and dry. The past rainy seasons had witnessed lower degrees of flooding mostly caused by blocked drainages but the cause of this year
