FMSCI is now sole FIA recognised body from India

FMSCI today became the sole recognised body from India in the FIA, as the world governing body today scrapped Motorsport Association of India's membership on the recommendation of World Motor Sport Council.

The decision was passed unanimously on the floor in the Federation International Automobile (FIA) General Assembly.

FMSCI Chairman Vijay Mallya was re-elected as a member of the World Motor Sport Council (WMSC).

The annual FIA Prize-Giving Gala also took place here and India's rally driver Gaurav Gill was crowned the 2013 Asia Pacific Rally Champion.

Formula One Champion Sebastian Vettel, World Rally Champion (WRC) Sebastian Ogier, World Karting Champion Max Verstappen were also honoured.
 

Global Manufacturer's including Volkswagen Motorsport (WRC), Audi AG (World Endurance Champion), Honda (World Touring Car Champion) were also honoured.

FMSCI President Vicky Chandhok, said, "This is a great week for Indian motorsport. Every year we are getting a bigger with regard to our involvement with the FIA. Being recognized as the only representative in India by the FIA has been long time coming and we are thrilled with the decision.
