Though the maximum and minimum temperatures remained normal, the fog badly affected visibility, which dropped to less than 50 m, forcing the traffic to slow down. The situation started to improve only after 11 AM.
The maximum was recorded at 21.9 deg C, which is normal for this time of season while the minimum was registered one notch below normal at 7.6 deg C, the MeT department said
Operations remained standstill at the IGI airport for around five hours, delaying the schedule of over 130 flights, diversions and cancellations of 19 each.
Foggy condition also led to the cancellation of 10 trains and rescheduling of two others. A large number of trains were running behind their schedule as visibility remained low throughout the early part of the day.
The MeT office has predicted fog in the morning tomorrow. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 21 and seven degrees Celsius respectively.
