Fog engulfs parts of Pb and Har affecting rail, road traffic

Several parts of Punjab and Haryana were today engulfed in dense fog, mist and hazy conditions which adversely affected rail and road traffic, even though minimum temperatures in the region settled above normal limits.

Karnal, Amritsar, Ludhiana and Patiala were enveloped in fog while hazy conditions prevailed in Chandigarh, MeT officials said today.

Hisar and Ambala faced misty conditions, officials said, adding due to foggy conditions, movement of some trains and traffic on Highways was affected.

However, minimum temperatures in the region hovered between three to six degree Celsius above normal. Ludhiana had a low of 10 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal while Amritsar's minimum temperature settled at 10.8 degrees Celsius, six notches above normal.
 

The minimum temperature at Chandigarh was five notches above normal at 11.6 degrees Celsius while Hisar saw a low of 12.2 degrees Celsius, six points above normal.

In Narnaul, Ambala and Patiala the minimum temperature settled at 12.5, 12.8, and 13.5 degrees Celsius respectively, all hovering between five to six degrees Celsius above normal.

The MeT office has predicted dense to very dense fog at isolated pockets of the two states during the next 24 hours adding there was a possibility of rains at few places in the region.
