Fog leads to 3 accidents, 2 dead, 24 hurt

Dense fog blanketing this Uttar Pradesh region led to three road accidents since last evening, claiming two lives and leaving 24 injured.

In the first accident in Azamgarh, one person was killed and 20 were injured in a collision between a bus and a truck in Tarwan area early this morning.

The dead was truck driver Ram Awdh Yadav, aged 40, police said, adding the accident happened in thick fog near Dheerdhar village.

Twenty bus passengers were also injured in the accident, they said.

The second mishap took place last evening on Meerut-Karnal highway which was enveloped in thick fog.
 

Pritam Singh was killed when the motorcycle he was riding fell into Khokni river, police said.

In another incident, four persons were seriously injured when the tractor they were travelling in collided with a truck on Delhi-Pauri highway, they said.
